Hyundai Scores Big in IIHS Safety Ratings in 2025

It’s fair to say that Hyundai Motor Group excels in many areas, particularly when it comes to safety. The Korean automaker is closing the year on a high note with numerous vehicle safety awards.

Once again, Hyundai Motor Group has established itself as a benchmark in automotive safety. Altogether, its brands earned a total of 21 TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, more than enough to place the Group at the top of the rankings for a second consecutive year.

Stringent Selection Criteria

It doesn’t take much for a vehicle to fall short in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) evaluations. In 2025, the IIHS significantly raised the bar with stricter standards than ever before, particularly in child occupant protection. As a result, it’s even more impressive that 18 of the 21 awards earned by the Group were TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings, the highest distinction awarded by the U.S. organization.

Several of the Group’s electric vehicles—including the Hyundai IONIQ 9, IONIQ 6, IONIQ 5, and the Kia EV6—were among the recognized models. Other vehicles such as the Kona, Tucson, Elantra, Sonata, and Santa Fe also received awards. Additionally, six Genesis models ranked among the safest vehicles when TOP SAFETY PICK ratings are considered.

Still at the Top

Whether it’s safety, design, or technology, Hyundai Motor Group continues to stand out through boldness, innovation, and perseverance. Its brands rank among the leaders in nearly every category. Perhaps most impressive is the Group’s ability to deliver such high standards while maintaining competitive pricing. It’s no surprise that Hyundai Motor Group and its brands continue to grow in popularity year after year.
